Default What's A Good Smiting Build?

I've had my monk since I got the game last year. She's always been a full healer and recently a Spirit Bonder (Shirtless Build for farming). But now I want to try my hand at smiting. However, I lack a good build for that. Can anyone possibly give me some ideas?

Note: I already have great smiting weapons, runes and armor.

Thanks in advance!

I'm pretty sure there are several smiting builds in the builds thread.

Here are some skills you may want to look at though.

Shield of Judgement (elite)
Balthazar's Spirit
Bane Signet
Holy Strike
Smite Hex
Zealot's Fire
Watcherful Spirit
Rebirth

Bane Signet - free damage, if attacking knocksdown.
Shield of Judgement - anyone attacking you is knockedown
Holy Strike - does damage, and extra damage to those who are knockedown
Smite Hex - removes hex on you
Balthazar's Spirit - energy gain every time you are damaged
Zealot's Fire - every time you use a skll, it does damage to adjacent foes
Watchful Spirit - health regen, heals when it ends, excellent cover enchantment

This is just a few things for you to look at.

Hope it helps.

The only smiter really worth running is the AoE smiter, but it's not useful in PvE (due to aggro scatter.) Tbh theres no reason to ever run smiting in PvE, aside from possibly judges insight (not including farming builds, that won't be discussed in this section.)

If you want a pvp smite build, try this:

Air of Enchantment [e]
zealots fire
reversal of fortune
guardian
balthazars aura
windborn speed -or- judges insight
smite hex
res sig

There are still some skill that are good and that would be banish.smite.retribution.holy wrath, scrourage healing or scrafice, symbol of wrath ,judges insight and signet of judgment[e].The ones that aren't really all that great are Balthazars Aura and Zealots Fire.Don't forget a self heal.

I was playing around with a Monk/Ranger running Blessed Aura and Judges Insight, with an Enchantment-extending bow. Only thing is that I haven't figured out a way to either manage energy or avoid the 10-energy bow attacks and still deal damage yet. It definitely has potential with high Divine Favor, though, and Signet of Devotion provides healing almost on par with Healing Signet, without the -40 to armor.

If you want to do that, your best bet would be to run R/mo, with barrage, judges, and a zealous bow. You don't need blessed aura to keep Judges on you all the time.

Yeah, but it is a pain to recast a 10-energy spell every 15 seconds or so. Fights take longer than that. I suppose doing Blessed Aura and Judge's in a pet build might work, but then I'd be running out of skill slots. It really sucks that Smiting Prayers is pretty much a gimmick for Monk primaries now with the AoE update!!!

With zealous and barrage you shouldn't have energy problems, a pet would definitely help the build, in fact lots of people run barrage/pets.

I've also decided to get my monk back into smiting. Which proved to be just as useful as an Ele with a little attribute tweaking and a couple of energy management skills.

If you couple smiting with a secondary profession like ele you make great use of smiting.
